Meet the Pioneers

Meet the Pioneers
Tuesday, May 12, 6:00 - 7:30 pm
Convention Center Room 4A

All registered students are encouraged to attend.

The IEEE Signal Processing Society is happy to announce a special event, "Signal Processing Pioneers Meet the Students," at ICASSP '98. This event is one of several activities during ICASSP '98, commemorating the 50th Anniversary of the Signal Processing Society.

Professor James F. Kaiser will highlight the "50 Golden Years of Signal Processing." Students who attend ICASSP '98 will have the opportunity to comunicate face to face with the Signal Processing Pioneers in a congenial atmosphere. In bringing the Pioneers and students together in this arena, the Society has found a way for the inventors of the technology to meet with those who represent its new frontier, and who will carry the Society's standard well into the next century.

Texas Instruments will sponsor the event and announce the winner of its 1997 worldwide "DSP Solutions Challenge" at this event. The winning university team will receive US$100,000 for the most innovative design using digital signal processing devices.

For additional information, please contact IEEE Signal Processing Society ( sp.info@ieee.org ) or Yu Hen Hu (hu@ece.wisc.edu), the event coordinator. Detailed award citations of the Pioneers can be found by visiting the 50th Anniversary web site: http://www.ece.wisc.edu/~sps50/history/award.html.
